SECURING A GREEN FUTURE

Tackling the global climate emergency means investing in new ways to heat our homes, light our streets and power our vehicles.

Britain’s energy network companies have a leading role to play – connecting greater levels of renewable energy and providing the infrastructure we need.

The smartest, most innovative and fairest way to achieve Britain’s Net Zero target as quickly as possible is to build on the strengths of our world-leading energy networks.

OUR CAMPAIGN

Taking the energy network companies into state ownership would put Britain’s Net Zero target at risk.

This significant disruption to the energy networks would delay the urgent progress towards Net Zero.

Time is running out. Let’s not waste it on scrapping what works and starting again.

The Securing a Green Future campaign is sponsored and managed by Energy Networks Association (ENA), which represents the companies that are responsible for operating the ‘wires and pipes’ of Britain’s gas and electricity network infrastructure. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the role energy network companies have to play in tackling the climate emergency by providing the infrastructure needed to decarbonise our economy.

We believe that the investment our country needs in its infrastructure to reach Net Zero must:

  • Be delivered in way that delivers access to clean, affordable and reliable energy for all
  • Deliver new smart skills today to create the green collar jobs of tomorrow, in communities, towns and cities across the country
  • Be delivered in a way that manages risk efficiently, improves the performance of our infrastructure and drives value for money – whilst being accountable to the public
  • Focus on using innovation to take an approach to climate policy that is as much local as it is national, and to ensure that all in our society are able to benefit from a just transition

Securing a Green Future will be running social media advertising to raise awareness of the campaign. We are registered as a social issue advertiser with Facebook and all our advertising will be displayed here as part of our commitment to total transparency. Our Twitter advertising can be accessed via the Twitter Transparency Centre.
